This burrata crostini wreath is one of my favorite easy Christmas appetizers. It takes just a few minutes to put together, looks festive on any table, and uses simple ingredients (and a few ingredients). If you’re planning your holiday menu, and looking for easy appetizers, this puff pastry Christmas tree I made would pair so well with the burrata wreath, it’s 3 main ingredients, is customizable, and looks beautiful!

Ingredients to make Burrata Crostinis for Christmas
- Baguette: 1 baguette would make 1 wreath and about 18 single crostinis.
- Burrata: I used 2 burratas but they are small so it depends on the burrata you buy. For reference the ones I buy are 125g each.
- Cherry tomatoes: you can also use regular tomatoes and cut them into small dices. I used a small box of cherry tomatoes that is 250g.
- Olive oil: Used on both the crostinis and in the tomato and basil mixture.
- Basil: I use a few fresh basil leaves, you can use dry basil but fresh is better and looks prettier.
- Salt and pepper: to taste, I add salt and pepper in the tomato and basil mixture and sprinkle them over the pieces of baguettes before baking them.
- Balsamic glaze: my favorite addition! I love balsamic glaze with anything burrata and tomatoes! If you don’t have any, you can mix a bit of balsamic vinegar with the tomatoes.
Measurements are posted in the recipe card below the instructions.
How to make this easy Christmas appetizer
1. Make the crostinis
Slice the baguette and place the pieces on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Drizzle a bit of olive oil over each slice (or brush it on) and sprinkle a little salt if you like.
Bake until they turn light and crisp, 180°C (356°F) or 200°C (392°F) both work, just keep an eye on them.
Remove from the oven and let them cool so they stay crunchy.

2. Make the tomato basil toppping
Wash and slice the cherry tomatoes.
Wash the fresh basil, stack the leaves, and slice them into thin strips.
Add tomatoes and basil to a bowl.
Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix gently.

3. Assemble everything
Lay the crostini on your serving dish in a circle to form a wreath shape.
Tear the burrata into pieces with your hands and place the pieces all around the wreath.
Spoon the cherry tomato mixture over the burrata and crostini.
Drizzle a little balsamic glaze on top and serve right away while everything is crisp and fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I make the crostini ahead of time?
Yes. You can toast the crostini a few hours earlier. Let them cool completely, then keep them in an airtight container so they stay crisp.
Can I assemble it ahead of time?
No. The burrata and tomatoes will soften the crostini. Assemble the wreath right before serving.
Can I use mozzarella instead of burrata?
Yes. Fresh mozzarella works well and still gives a creamy bite, just less rich than burrata.
Can I swap the cherry tomatoes?
You can use chopped regular tomatoes or even a simple pesto if you want a different flavor.
Can I make this without balsamic glaze?
Absolutely. Olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper are enough. Lemon zest is a nice touch too.

How to store burrata crostinis:
This appetizer is at its best right after assembling. The burrata and tomatoes will soften the crostini quickly.
If you need to store the components:
- Crostini: Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Tomato mixture: Store in the fridge for 1 day in a covered container.
- Burrata: Keep it in the fridge in its liquid and use within 1–2 days.
Do not store the assembled wreath
Once assembled, the crostini lose their crisp texture, so it’s better to prepare each part separately and put everything together right before serving.

Christmas Appetizer Burrata Crostini Wreath
Ingredients
- 1 Baguette
- 2 Small Burratas (or 1 large)
- 250 g Cherry Tomatoes
- Fresh Basil (about 7 leaves)
- Olive Oil (to taste)
- Salt & Pepper (to taste)
- Balsamic Glaze (to taste)
Instructions
- Slice the baguette and place the pieces on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Drizzle or brush a little olive oil on top and sprinkle a bit of salt if you want. Bake until the slices turn light and crisp at 180°C (356°F) or 200°C (392°F). I left mine for 5 minutes because I don't like them super crisp. Remove from the oven and let the crostini cool so they stay crunchy.

- Wash and slice the cherry tomatoes. Wash the fresh basil, stack the leaves, and slice them thinly. Add everything to a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and mix gently.

- Lay the crostini on your serving dish in a wreath shape. You can overlap them a little to make the wreath look full. Tear the burrata into pieces with your hands and place the pieces all around the wreath, on top of some crostini and in the gaps.Spoon the cherry tomato mixture over the burrata and the crostini.Drizzle balsamic glaze on top and serve right away while everything is fresh and crisp.
