Honey-Drizzled Burrata Crostini Appetizers

Crostini, meaning “little toasts” in Italian, are one of my go-to appetizers when I want something simple yet impressive. They’re made from slices of baguette brushed with olive oil and toasted until perfectly crisp.

What I love most about crostini is how customizable they are, you can create endless variations using different cheeses, cured meats, toppings, and even drizzles.

This version with burrata, honey, and cured meats is a favorite because the ingredients are easy to find, the flavors are incredible, and it always looks fancy enough to wow your guests!

  • Baguette
  • Olive Oil
  • Burrata
  • Arugula
  • Honey
  • Cured Meat of your choice (one of the best options would be Prosciutto)

Measurements are posted in the recipe card below the instructions.

  • Slice a baguette into pieces, about 1/2 inch thick if you’re going for thin pieces.
  • Lay the slices on a baking sheet and brush them with olive oil. You can do one side or two sides, depending on how crispy you want them. If you want them extra crispy, brush both sides, and flip them in the oven to toast both sides.
baking crostini in the oven
  • Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 8–10 minutes, or until the slices are golden and crisp.
  • Let them cool slightly.

  • Spread a dollop of burrata on each toasted slice. If the burrata is very soft, you can tear it into small pieces and gently place them on the crostini.
  • Layer a few arugula leaves.
  • Add a slice of your choice of cured meat (Prosciutto, Chorizo…).
  • Finish each crostini with a light drizzle of honey, a good choice would also be spicy honey.

Here are alternatives for some ingredients, paired to inspire different crostini flavors:

  • For a cheaper option of Burrata (because it is more on the expensive side) use fresh mozzarella. It has a milder flavor but still delivers creaminess.
  • Boursin is a great option for crostinis, pair it with fig jam and prosciutto, you can also add a fruit like thin slices of pairs, or grilled slices of peaches. These combos also work with Ricotta.
  • For the cured meats, Salami is a good option, Chorizo delivers that hot smokey flavor, you can also use some turkey options like I did; I used “Lombo de Peru” (I live in Portugual) which is a smoked/dried turkey loin.
