Full measurements are posted in the recipe card below.
How to make waffles at home:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

- In a separate bowl, lightly whisk the eggs with the vanilla extract until just combined.
- Now add the whisked eggs mixture to the milk.

- Add the oil and whisk well until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients.

- Stir gently until you get a smooth batter with no lumps. Avoid overmixing, as this can affect the texture.
- Lightly grease your waffle maker with a little oil or non-stick spray. Preheat it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

- Pour the batter into the waffle maker, spreading it evenly. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy on the outside. Cooking time may vary depending on your waffle maker. A small sized waffle maker like mine takes 3 to 4 minutes to cook the waffles.

These waffles taste great on their own but are even better with toppings! Maple syrup for the win of course, chocolate syrup, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar are a great choice too. Add some fruit like berries or banana slices, or top them with whipped cream or yogurt. Enjoy them with your favorite toppings!

These waffles aren’t just delicious, they’re also easy to freeze! Make a batch ahead of time, let them cool completely, and store them in an airtight container or freezer bag (Ziplock). They stay fresh for up to 3 months without losing flavor or texture.
When you’re ready to eat, just take a waffle straight from the freezer and pop it into the toaster or oven for a few minutes. No need to defrost! Cooking them straight from frozen makes them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just like fresh waffles!
